My greatest companion
My flashlight journey started not long ago, when a company reached out to have me review their flashlights. As I am an avid dog walker and camp often in the summertime, having a reliable yet functional flashlight for my adventures was key, and I agreed. From there, my need turned into a collection of 30+ crazy lights, each with a distinct use case.
However, one light stood out from the rest; the Olight Marauder Mini. This has been my go-to dog walking and hiking light since I purchased it. It has never skipped a beat, while offering amazing light output in every condition imaginable; Fire smoke in the height of summer, windy wet fall nights, -25c frigid winters. The spotlight/floodlight combo is what makes this one of so few like its kind on the market, and the reason I choose it time and time again.
The light helped my dog and I see and be seen, being used to make distracted drivers more aware, while illuminating threats like porcupines, cats, foxes, and black bears. While this light was my greatest companion, it was my dogs too. It grew old with him and I.
Unfortunately this fall, my dogs physical health declined significantly. Going bathroom in the house, collapsing hind legs, and infection. I was outside at all hours of the night tending to his needs; walks, baths in the backyard at 3am, etc. With me each time was my marauder mini, illuminating even the darkest of nights.
My dog may not be with me anymore, but the flashlight that helped him and I navigate long nights will forever remain in my collection to help me remember.
